10 days ago, our baby girl finally arrived. It was a long birth (26 hours), I lost too much blood and had to be hospitalized for a brief period afterwards, but she’s been in perfect health from the very beginning. She’s quite the little philosopher who likes to stay awake at night and stare into space while making weird little noises – which keep her mommy up at night. We’re still in the process of getting to know her and figuring out how to be parents to a little baby. It’s very hard, but I think (/hope) we’re getting better at it day by day.
Her name is Edith Olenska. Edith after one of my favorite authors, Edith Wharton, and Olenska after the character Countess Ellen Olenska from Wharton’s most famous novel The Age of Innocence. So far she doesn’t seem too impressed by the story behind her name:
