Flowers in the Rain
After yesterday’s wardrobe crisis, I decided to ignore the grey weather and put on a summer dress – with some woolen tights and a cardigan to keep out the cold of course. Mr. Boyfriend and I wanted to go out for cake at Savoir where they have the most amazing cakes. How disappointed were we to see the “Sorry, we are closed” sign on the door! Even if the sign is pretty …
And just to rub it in, it started to rain! But there can be something nice about wearing flowery prints and bright colors in the rain. I have no idea where the dress (see picture below) is from but it’s one of my summer classics. The shoes are Hush Puppies and the vintage bag is my new favorite from Marbles Vintage in Amsterdam. Lately this bag follows me wherever I go!

But back to our quest for cake: Gavlen is our safe place: it’s cozy, feels like home and there’s always some good cake and coffee. Check out the picture below and then look at the picture above. My dress almost matches the dress on the book! I didn’t plan it! But it’s so cool …

Ung vrede og rock’n'roll
Shoes: Hush Puppies
Nåede lige at nappe endnu et Golden Days arrangement med: denne gang i Literaturhaus i Møllegade, hvor Jens-Emil Nielsen holdt foredrag om 50′ernes ungdomskultur i Danmark og alt hvad det indebar af musik, film, dans, tøjstil og selvfølgelig litteratur. Af romaner blev der bl.a. nævnt: The Catcher in the Rye / Forbandede Ungdom af J.D. Salinger – kan varmt anbefales – og Rend mig i Traditionerne af Leif Panduro – har mange ligheder med Catcher, men er samtidig et utroligt godt grin. Kan afsløre, at romanen starter med, at hovedpersonens slips sidder i klemme i en cigaretautomat. Så er stilen lagt!
Til aftensmad blev der serveret millionbøf – en klassisk ret i de danske hjem i 50′erne.
Attended another Golden Days event: this time at Literaturhaus. Jens-Emil Nielsen talked about the 50s youth culture in Denmark and everything it entailed of music, movies, dancing, style and of course literature. He mentioned the novels The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger – I highly recommend it – and Kick me in the Traditions by Leif Panduro – it has many similarities to Catcher, but is more like a comedy. I can reveal that, at the very first page, the protagonist’s tie is stuck in a cigarete vending machine. That sets the tone of the book!
We had minced beef stew for dinner – a classic dish in the Danish homes in the 50s.

Mad, bøger og en gammel kjole
Fik fantastisk mad på Scarpetta i går aftes. Var i rigtig god tid og tog et smut i Blågårds Antikvariat på vejen og fik hilst på katten, der render rundt i kælderen. Fik også fingrene i tre bøger – ikke fordi mine to-read-hylder ligefremmen mangler materiale, men bliver bare så glad når jeg får nye bøger. Kjolen er en gammel sag fra Flying A og skoene er fra Hush Puppies.
Had a wonderful dinner at Scarpetta last night. Was very early and stopped by one of my favorite second-hand book stores and said hello to the cat -yes the book store has a cat. I also bought three books – not that my to read shelf needs more titles, but it just makes me so happy to buy new books. The dress is an oldie from Flying A and the shoes are from Hush Puppies.
