Knitted 40s Sweater with Puffed Sleeves

Knitted blue vintage sweater - free pattern

I finished this gorgeous sweater from a vintage pattern months ago, but completely forgot to show you guys the result! I meant to do an outfit post with the sweater, but then my belly started to grow and I looked like a weird balloon with puffed sleeves when I put it on. So that’ll have to wait.

Blue sweater with puffed sleeves

The pattern was one you guys helped me choose, and I really like the result – even though it was nothing like I expected it to be. First of all, the rib pattern looks nothing like it does in the picture where I found the pattern. And the free pattern has its flaws. Or I was just too stupid to follow the instructions. The pattern makes it sound easy, but to me it was difficult. But it is beautiful, and I adore the puffed sleeves and the vintage feel. If I ever get my figure back, I’ll do an outfit post. I’m thinking of pairing it with a pencil skirt …

  1. how cute is this sweater! I followed your link on your Goodreads Ravelry group post, where we both are members–thought I would leave my “congratulations on a very cute sweater!” here. God Dag!

  2. I love this sweater! I have one similar (store-bought, unfortunately) but I like the color and ribbing of yours better. Mine is dusky rose with a scoop neck, so it isn’t really that warm.

  3. I love the color and the sleeves, and it will definitely go well with a pencil skirt. You can make a mom and daugter look, it would look even cuter for a babygirl 😉

  4. Hi Linda – thanks for stopping by 🙂 I fell in love with this sweater as soon as I saw the pattern – I just hope I get to wear it one day 😀
