Good evening on the last official winter day. I didn’t celebrate Valentine’s day, but my books did:
My february was weird and full of contrasts. Tragedy happened at work, leaving us all devastated. It isn’t for me to go into any details and this certainly isn’t the place to do so. But it’s been on my mind a lot and still is, so not mentioning it would feel wrong. Then came my birthday and strangely life went on – with a lot of alcohol and cake.
February has been unusual in many ways: For once, I didn’t get any books for my birthday at all! That’s the first time in about 10 years – I remember birthdays where books were all I got! But I did get some lovely presents – for example the beautiful necklace in the left picture below.
Something else that’s unusual: I haven’t shopped at all! Actually I haven’t done any shopping since November. This isn’t like me. And the thing is that I’ve actually tried! I’ve been to three of my favorite shops without finding anything I wanted. Instead I’ve gushed over the super cool book-shoes in the left pic below – and I’ve toyed with nail art:
And here’s the last unusual thing: I haven’t done any outfit posts at all. I really want to change this for next month – in January I managed at least two outfit posts in spite of being cranky. The only thing I’ve managed this month was to snap these two selfies before going to work:
But here’s something that stays the same no matter what: my cats always manage to be the perfect cuties:
I’ve been a bit unlucky on the book front: I gave up on two books in one week, adding further to my list of shame. One of them was The Almost Moon, which I found completely uninteresting.
I’ve decided to go for the save choice for my next read: I adored John Green’s Looking for Alaska so I thought I would treat myself to The Fault in Our Stars, which everyone seems to love. So far I really REALLY like it and trust it to be my faithful companion for this weekend.
What are you reading this weekend?
